Ibn Abbas on Sahaba: Seek forgiveness for companions in the Fitnah

Mujahid reported: Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Do not curse the companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, for Allah Almighty commanded seeking forgiveness for them even though He knew they would fight each other.”

عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ  رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنه قَالَ لَا تَسُبُّوا أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ أَمَرَ بِالِاسْتِغْفَارِ لَهُمْ وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ سَيَقْتَتِلُونَ
