Hadith on Rulers: Warning not to obey leaders if they order sin

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There will be rulers appointed over you who delay the prayer from its proper times and invent new heresies.” Abdullah said, “What should I do if I see them?” The Prophet said, “You ask me, O son of Umm ‘Abd, what you should do? There is no obedience to one who orders disobedience to Allah.”
