Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, every Prophet has an ally among the Prophets and surely my ally is my father, Abraham, the intimate friend of my Lord, upon him be peace.” Then, the Prophet recited the verse, “Verily, the closest to Abraham are those who followed him, this Prophet, and those who have faith, for Allah is the ally of the believers.” (3:68)

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ وُلَاةً مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَإِنَّ وَلِيِّي أَبِي وَخَلِيلُ رَبِّي إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَذَا النَّبِيُّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاللهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
