Umar II on Qadr: O Allah, content me with Your divine decree

Yahya ibn Sa’id reported: Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, would supplicate often, saying, “O Allah, make me pleased with Your decree and bless me in Your providence, such that I would not like to hasten anything You delay, nor delay anything You hasten.”

عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ كَثِيرًا مِمَّا يَدْعُو بِهَا اللَّهُمَّ رَضِّنِي بِقَضَائِكَ وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي قَدَرِكَ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ شَيْءٍ أَخَّرْتَهُ وَلَا تَأْخِيرَ شَيْءٍ عَجَّلْتَهُ
