Hadith on Guests: Warning not to overstay your welcome

Abu Shurayh reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Hospitality for the guest is no more than three days, and it is courteous to host for one day and night. It is not lawful for a Muslim man to reside with his brother until he tempts him to sin.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, how does he tempt him to sin?” The Prophet said, “He stays with him until he has nothing left to entertain him.

عَنْ ‌أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَجَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يُقِيمَ عِنْدَ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يُؤْثِمَهُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَكَيْفَ يُؤْثِمُهُ قَالَ يُقِيمُ عِنْدَهُ وَلَا شَيْءَ لَهُ يَقْرِيهِ بِهِ
