Makhul reported: Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Verily, a man will seek the decision of Allah Almighty, and He chooses for him, yet he is displeased with his Almighty Lord. If he only waited to see the final result, he would find it is better for him.”

عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ الْأَزْدِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَسْتَخِيرَ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فَيَخْتَارُ لَهُ فَيَسْخَطُ عَلَى رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَلَا يَلْبَثُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ فِي الْعَاقِبَةِ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ
