Rifa’ah ibn ‘Arabah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When a half or third of the night has passed, Allah descends to the lowest heaven, and He says, ‘My servants do not ask from anyone but Me. Who is asking Me that I might give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness that I might forgive him? Who is calling upon Me that I might answer him?’ This continues until the dawn rises.”

عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ عَرَابَةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا مَضَى شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثَاهُ يَنْزِلُ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْ عِبَادِي غَيْرِي مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ
