Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of myself and the Hour is like these two,” and he separated between his middle and index fingers. Then, the Prophet said, “The parable of myself and the Hour is like a man dispatched to this people at the forefront of it, and when it is feared the glimmer of his shirt might arrive first, it comes upon you! It comes upon you!”

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَ إِصْبُعَيْهِ الْوُسْطَى وَالَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ بَعَثَهُ قَوْمُهُ طَلِيعَةً فَلَمَّا خَشِيَ أَنْ يُسْبَقَ أَلَاحَ بِثَوْبِهِ أُتِيتُمْ أُتِيتُمْ
