Salamah ibn Nufayl reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, as a man said, “O Messenger of Allah, were you given food from the heavens?” The Prophet said, “Yes.” The man said, “And with what?” The Prophet said, “A cooking pot.” The man said, “Did you have any leftovers?” The Prophet said, “Yes.” The man said, “What was done with it?” The Prophet said, “It was taken up as it was revealed to me that I will soon be buried, not to remain with you, and you will not remain after me but for a short time. Rather, you will remain until you say, ‘He has died.’ There will be factions annihilating each other and right before the Hour, there will be a great amount of death, followed by years of earthquakes.”

عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ السَّكُونِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ قَالَ قَائِلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ أُتِيتَ بِطَعَامٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَبِمَاذَا قَالَ بِمِسْخَنَةٍ قَالُوا فَهَلْ كَانَ فِيهَا فَضْلٌ عَنْكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَمَا فُعِلَ بِهِ قَالَ رُفِعَ وَهُوَ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ أَنِّي مَكْفُوتٌ غَيْرُ لَابِثٍ فِيكُمْ وَلَسْتُمْ لَابِثِينَ بَعْدِي إِلَّا قَلِيلًا بَلْ تَلْبَثُونَ حَتَّى تَقُولُوا مَتَى وَسَتَأْتُونَ أَفْنَادًا يُفْنِي بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا وَبَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ مُوتَانٌ شَدِيدٌ وَبَعْدَهُ سَنَوَاتُ الزَّلَازِلِ
