Hadith on Punishment: Believers punished in world, sinners in Hereafter

Abdullah ibn Mughaffal reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If Allah wills to bless a servant, He hastens the punishment for his sins. If Allah wills to harm a servant, He withholds the punishment for his sins until he is brought forth on the Day of Resurrection as if he were a wild ass.

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا عَجَّلَ لَهُ عُقُوبَةَ ذَنْبِهِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ بِعَبْدٍ شَرًّا أَمْسَكَ عَلَيْهِ بِذَنْبِهِ حَتَّى يُوَافَى بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَأَنَّهُ عَيْرٌ
