Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I am holding you back from the Fire. I say: Beware of Hell! Beware the limits of Allah! When I pass away, I will precede you and meet you at the Fountain. Whoever makes it there has succeeded, but some people will come and be driven to the left side. I will say: O Lord, my nation! It will be said: You do not know what they invented after you, turning away on their heels!”

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَنَا آخِذٌ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنِ النَّارِ أَقُولُ إِيَّاكُمْ وَجَهَنَّمَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْحُدُودَ فَإِذَا مِتُّ فَأَنَا فَرَطُكُمْ وَمَوْعِدُكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ فَمَنْ وَرَدَ أَفْلَحَ وَيَأْتِي قَوْمٌ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِهِمْ ذَاتَ الشِّمَالِ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ أُمَّتِي فَيُقَالُ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ مُرْتَدِّينَ عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ
