Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “To whomever Allah wills goodness, He grants them understanding of the religion.”

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Arna’ut
Imam al-Turibishti commented, “The reality of ‘understanding in religion’ is what occurs in the heart and then appears on the tongue, thereby producing good deeds and cultivating reverence and Godfearing righteousness. As for those who study its topics to gain prestige or consume its earnings, they are far removed from the highest level because their ‘understanding’ is connected to the tongue without the heart.”
