Abdullah ibn Hantab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw Abu Bakr and Umar, saying, “These two are the hearing and the sight.”

Imam al-Qari commented, “Meaning, their two souls are one to the extent they are like a single balanced man, or they are among the Muslims or in the religion like hearing and seeing, not merely as limbs… or they are both to me as if they were in the honorable position of seeing and hearing.”
