Hadith on Caliphs: Best of Ummah are Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman

Ibn Umar reported: In the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while his companions were numerous, we preferred Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, then we would remain silent.

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Arna’ut

Imam Ahmad commented, “The best of this nation after its Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are Abu Bakr the Truthful, then Umar ibn al-Khattab, then Uthman ibn Affan. We give precedence to these three as was done by the companions of the Messenger of Allah, and they did not disagree over it.”
