Hadith on Hajj: Stoning the Jamarat, raising hands in supplication

Salim ibn ‘Abdillah reported: Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, would stone the nearest pillar with seven pebbles, declaring Allah is great after each pebble. Then he would go forward to an open area, stand facing the qiblah for a long time, supplicating and raising his hands. Then he would stone the middle pillar in the same way, then move to the left, go to an open area, stand facing the qiblah for a long time, supplicating and raising his hands. Then he would stone the pillar of al-‘Aqabah from within the valley, and he would not stop there. He would say, “This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, do it.”
