Umar on Shukr: O Allah, make us among the few grateful

Ibrahim al-Taymi reported: A man in front of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, was saying, “O Allah, make me among the few.” Umar said, “What is this supplication?” The man said, “I heard Allah say: And few of My servants are grateful, (34:13). So I call upon Allah to make me among these few.” Umar said, “All of the people know better than Umar!”
