Hadith on Sadaqah: The Prophet rushes to give gold in charity

‘Uqbah ibn al-Harith reported: I prayed the afternoon prayer with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and when he ended by invoking peace, he quickly stood up and entered the house of some of his wives. Then, he came out and he saw wonder on the people’s faces at his haste. The Prophet said, “I remembered while I was praying that we had some gold and I disliked for our evening or night to pass while we still have it, so I ordered it to be distributed.

عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَصْرَ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَامَ سَرِيعًا دَخَلَ عَلَى بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ وَرَأَى مَا فِي وُجُوهِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْ تَعَجُّبِهِمْ لِسُرْعَتِهِ فَقَالَ ذَكَرْتُ وَأَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ تِبْرًا عِنْدَنَا فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ يُمْسِيَ أَوْ يَبِيتَ عِنْدَنَا فَأَمَرْتُ بِقِسْمَتِهِ
