Shaqiq reported: A man from the tribe of Bahilah named Nahik ibn Sinan came to Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, and he said, “I recite the chapters of al-Mufassal in one cycle of prayer.” Abdullah said, “This is like the recitation of poetry. I know the manner in which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, recited them: two chapters in one cycle of prayer.”

Al-Nawawi said, “He prohibited reciting extremely fast, which is called hadhramah… The scholars said reciting distinctly is recommended for contemplation and otherwise. They said it is recommended for the non-Arabic speaker to recite distinctly, even though he does not understand the meaning, as that is more reverent and respectful and it has a stronger effect on the heart.”

عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي بَجِيلَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ نَهِيكُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بن مسعود رضي الله عنه فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَقْرَأُ الْمُفَصَّلَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هَذًّا كَهَذِّ الشِّعْرِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِهِنَّ سُورَتَيْنِ فِي رَكْعَةٍ
822 صحيح مسلم كتاب صلاة المسافرين وقصرها باب ترتيل القراءة واجتناب الهذ وهو الإفراط في السرعة وإباحة سورتين فأكثر في ركعة
قال النووي وقد نهي عن الإفراط في الإسراع ويسمى الهذرمة … قال العلماء والترتيل مستحب للتدبر ولغيره قالوا يستحب الترتيل للعجمي الذي لا يفهم معناه لأن ذلك أقرب إلى التوقير والاحترام وأشد تأثيرا في القلب
