Umar II on Qadr: O Allah, make me satisfied with the Decree

Yahya ibn Sa’id reported: Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say, “O Allah, make me content with Your providence and bless me in Your decree, such that I would not like to hasten what has been delayed, nor delay what has been hastened.”

عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ كَانَ يقول رحمه الله اللهُمَّ رَضِّنِي بِقَضَائِكَ وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي قَدْرَكَ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ شَيْءٍ أَخَّرْتَهُ وَلَا تَأْخِيرَ شَيْءٍ عَجَّلْتَهُ
