Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Jesus, son of Mary, saw a person he thought was stealing. Jesus said to him: Have you committed theft? The man said: No, by Him besides whom there is no God! Jesus said: I believe in Allah and I disbelieve my eyes.”

Ibn Hajar said, “It is interpreted that the man was taking what he had a right to take, or that he had permission from its owner to take, or that he was taking it to examine and look at it, without intending to plunder or confiscate it.”
